Serves: 4–6
Why this spice: Collected Foods Pumpkin Pie Spice turns plain sweet potato mash into a warm, holiday-adjacent side—cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger without tipping into dessert territory.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup milk or half-and-half, warmed (more as needed)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Collected Foods Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional, for a gentle sweet edge)
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Optional: toasted pecans or a pat of butter for serving
Directions
- Put sweet potatoes in a large pot, cover with cold salted water, and bring to a boil. Cook until fork-tender, 12–15 minutes. Drain well and return to the pot over low heat for 1 minute to steam off excess moisture.
- Add butter and mash until mostly smooth. Stir in warm milk, Collected Foods Pumpkin Pie Spice, maple syrup if using, salt, and pepper.
- Taste and adjust: more Pumpkin Pie Spice for warmth, more salt to keep it savory, a splash more milk for silkier mash.
- Serve hot with a little butter on top and toasted pecans if you like crunch. Great next to roast chicken, pork, or a holiday plate.
