Collected Foods kitchen recipe.
Pumpkin Donuts with Spiced Buttercream: Bakery-style warmth from the spice drawer, not a mix. Collected Foods Pumpkin Pie Spice is the flavor driver.
Serves: about 12 donuts
Why this spice: Pumpkin Pie Spice in batter and buttercream makes baked donuts taste like fall bakery cases.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 2 tsp Collected Foods Pumpkin Pie Spice, divided
- 1 tsp baking powder + 1/2 tsp baking soda + 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/2 cup sugar + 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup oil + 2 eggs
- Buttercream: 6 Tbsp butter, 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice, splash milk
Directions
- Whisk dry ingredients with 1 1/2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice. Mix pumpkin, sugars, oil, and eggs; combine.
- Pipe or spoon into a greased donut pan. Bake at 350°F for 12–14 minutes; cool.
- Beat buttercream with remaining spice; frost cooled donuts.
- Optional: roll unfrosted warm donuts in spiced sugar instead.
- Taste and adjust salt or spice before serving.
