Serves: 6
Why this spice: Collected Foods Saigon Cinnamon is bold and sweet-woody — exactly what bubbling skillet apples need under a crunchy oat topping.
Ingredients
- 6 cups sliced apples (about 2 1/2 lb)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, divided
- 1 1/2 tsp Collected Foods Saigon Cinnamon, divided
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
- Pinch salt
- Vanilla ice cream or yogurt, optional
Directions
- Heat oven to 375°F. Toss apples with half the brown sugar, 1 tsp Saigon Cinnamon, lemon, and cornstarch. Spread in a 10-inch oven-safe skillet.
- Rub oats, flour, remaining sugar, remaining cinnamon, salt, and butter into a crumbly topping. Scatter over apples.
- Bake 30–35 minutes until fruit bubbles and topping is golden.
- Cool 10 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or yogurt.
Mix tart and sweet apples so the filling stays bright, not one-note sugary.
