Serves: 6
Why this spice: Collected Foods Bacon Salt on bubbling mac and cheese adds smoky crunch that bacon bits alone can't match.
Ingredients
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3 cups milk, warmed
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère or mozzarella
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- 1 tsp Collected Foods Bacon Salt, plus 1/2 tsp for topping
- 1 cup toasted breadcrumbs mixed with 1 tbsp melted butter
Directions
- Cook pasta just shy of al dente. Make a roux with butter and flour; whisk in milk until thick.
- Off heat, melt in cheeses, mustard powder, and 1 tsp Bacon Salt.
- Fold in pasta; spread in a buttered baking dish. Top with breadcrumbs and remaining Bacon Salt.
- Bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until bubbling and golden.
